This is just a update on the issues we have been having with Linux server one.
Over the last week we have had a number of instances where the server load has shot through the roof and this has caused Apache (the web server) to stop responding as well as MySQL. We have identified several user accounts that were contributing to this high load and those accounts have now been disabled.
We have also spent some time optimising the server and in particular MySQL. During this optimisation it came to our attention that some MySQL databases had become corrupted. These databases are using the InnoDB storage engine.
ACTION REQUIRED BY YOU!
If you use MySQL for your site please as a matter of urgency login to your cPanel account and access phpMyAdmin from the database management section. Then for each database check the database structure for the words “in use” in the records column.
If you see the words “in use” then your database table has been corrupted. Please open a support ticket at http://www.openmindhosting.co.uk/support/ and let us know the database name. We will then restore the database free of charge from last nights backup.
It is imperative that all users who utilise MySQL on their site carry out this request as soon as possible.
Finally we are in the process of upgrading the BIND name servers on the server. The plan is to move the name server records to separate servers to reduce load and increase redundancy.
We appreciate that that the last few days have been frustrating for all users concerned but please rest assured we are working as quickly as possible to restore a stable service for your sites.
